Tools of the Trade -

This is the stuff we use to play D&D online. If you want to play, you're gonna' need:

The RPTools are what we use as the primary driving component of our virtual tabletop; specifically, MapTool, and even more specfically, MapTool 1.3.b41. There are other RPTools components you may want to look at, but MapTool is all that's required.

We also use Teamspeak for VOIP, so we can talk to each other during the game and eliminate excess typing. Specifically, you'll want the regular US client package *and* the updated executable (which you can copy over the old executable after installing the regular package).

Lastly, we use Hamachi for a VPN; in other words, we hook up via a simulated LAN to appease some of the demands of the interwebs upon our users. Most of us are technically competent, but even the best of us can't seem to get MapTool to behave properly, so Hamachi is the workaround of choice. It's an obscenely easy download and setup that requires almost no know-how whatsoever.
